The Roseto Comunale is open for the season

Rome's Gardens and Parks

THE ROSE GARDEN IS OPEN

This Week:

The Roseto Comunale opened early this year, on April 11, and it's free to visit through June 14. No ticket, no reservation, and it's one of the best things you can do on your trip to Rome.

How to plan your visit

The entrance is at Via di Valle Murcia 6, near the Circus Maximus metro stop. Hours are 8:30am to 7:30pm daily. Peak bloom is in May, but there's plenty to see now.

The Giardino degli Aranci (Orange Garden) is a short walk up the hill and pairs well with this. You could do both in about an hour.

More gardens and green spaces in Rome

The rose garden is one of many green spaces in Rome that most visitors walk right past. Some are tucked behind churches, others inside palazzo courtyards.

I put together a guide to the ones I think are worth seeking out.
